1960: Development of PLATO
Developed by Don Bitzer in the early 1960's at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus, this timesharing system became one of the first to be operated in public. The PLATO system was designed for Computer-Based education. This first system only supported a single classroom of terminals. Years later, it evolved to a system that could support up to one thousand users simultaneously.

2012, Headline: They are stealing my thoughts!
Recently, the new thought reading computer software/hardware, packaged developed by MindCore Inc., that reads your thoughts and types them on the screen has come under intense scrutiny. Users have complained that other's people thoughts have been appearing on their screen. Other users are now afraid that their thoughts will be tapped into and stolen. The FCC is investigating these claims.
