THE FUTURE IS DIGITAL

(2003)

Digital Cameras have become the future of photography.  Digital pictures can be emailed, browsed on Web sites, enhanced, animated, transformed into fun things like T-shirts, and saved on your computer to be shared forever.  Digital cameras also allow the user to view the pictures they have taken instantly.  By the end of 2003 users should also be able to "make digital cameras more attractive, in-camera applications with compelling features need to be added. For example, how many times have you taken a picture, gotten it developed, and then discovered that the scene was too dark? What if you could have brightened the picture immediately after taking it? How many times have you taken a picture while standing too far away and had your subject come out looking tiny? What if you could digitally zoom in with the camera to frame the subject correctly? Or even better, imagine taking a picture of someone, then immediately sending it to them via the Internet by plugging your camera in to a phone line. These kinds of applications will be available soon."  All this will be done by putting a friendly graphical interface and PC functionality inside the camera.

A blast from the PAST
