I typically serve on 25-30 doctoral committees in Library & Information Science, Education, Writing Studies, and other programs, and is currently Adviser or Research Director for ten of these. He  has served on committees for more than 70 completed dissertations, including serving as Research Director on 20 of those. He has also served as international examiner for dissertations from several other countries. Through research grants he directly supervises seven graduate students and co-supervises six others.
