The Design of Usable Information Interfaces
This course will examine issues of Human Computer Interaction and
the design of better computer interfaces. We will examine the interfaces
to a number of different information systems as a way of understanding
the challenges and trade-offs of good design. This will include but not
be limited to the design of usable websites.
We will attempt to answer questions such as:
-
Why are computers so hard to use?
-
What causes the confusion that many people have?
-
How can we understand more about the difficulties?
-
How can we design computer interfaces that are easier to learn and use?
The course meets:
Mondays from 9 AM to 10:20 AM in LIS 131, and
Wednesdays from 9 AM to 10:20 AM in LIS 52
